Waikoloa, Hawai'i - Timmy Cavarno and Cole Beyer would both earn top-10 finishes and the entire Colorado Mesa University Men's Golf Team would card rounds of 73 or better as the Mavs would earn a fourth-place finish to conclude their trip to Hawaii at the Southwest Airlines Hawai'i Pacific University Shark Shootout at the Waikaloa Beach Resort.
The Mavs as a team would finish the tournament with a total score of 552 and match yesterday's stroke total with a 276 in round two. They would finish eight under par and take fourth place in a 19-team tournament.
Cavarno would turn out his best performance of the season this tournament as he finished the day tied for fourth place and shot five-under par for a 65. He would shoot a 70 in round one to have both rounds be shot at par or better. He would make seven birdies today and total 12 in the tournament.
Beyer would also turn out another top-10 finish this season as he closed the tournament tied for ninth-place with a one-under performance today shooting a 69. In five tournaments this fall Beyer has placed in the top 10 in all of them with two first place finishes. He would total five birdies in today's round.
Luke Wagstaff would earn a top-25 finish as he ended tied for 19th place with a one-under finish. He would shot a 69 today after shooting an even-par 70 yesterday.
The Mavs would be rounded out by Leo Lavalee and Baptiste Laborde, with Lavalee finishing tied for 35th and Laborde tied for 71st.
Lavalee would shoot a 73 today to finish three over and end the tournament two over after his round of 69 yesterday. Laborde would shoot a 73 as well today to finish the tournament seven over.
In all five tournaments this fall the Mavs have been top five finishers. They have shot under par as a team in four of them.
Colorado Christian University would be champions of the tournament as they took first place with a total score of 532 to finish 28 under par. Their individual golfer, Adam Duncan, would take first place as well finishing 10 under par.
Cal State Eastbay would take second place and Cal State Stanislaus would finish third to just place above Colorado Mesa.
This was the Mavs' last tournament of the fall season as they will get the winter off before returning in March for their next action when they head to Las Vegas, Nevada for the USML Desert Classic.
