KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team couldn't make up any ground on the field in Tuesday's (Oct. 22) final round of the Dennis Rose Invitational at Mauna Lani North Course.
The Mavericks shot three strokes better than yesterday's first round with a 291 to give them a two-round total of 585. They had to settle for an eighth-place finish on the team leaderboard which was two strokes better than ninth place Stanislaus State and three strokes better than 10
th place Simon Fraser.
Colorado Christian won the team title honors with a 30-under, 546 which was 17 strokes ahead of second place Sonoma State.
Senior
Cole Beyer had the best round of the day and the highest finish in the tournament for the Mavericks. Beyer shot a 1-under, 71 in his final round to finish in a tie for 17
th on the leaderboard. The Woodburn, Ore. native had two birdies which came on No. 11 and No. 15 and a bogey in his final round.
Timmy Cavarno finished three strokes behind his teammate in a tie for 31
st after a 2-over, 74 in his final round. Cavarno finished with two birdies and four bogeys in today's round.
Colorado Christian's Sungyeop Cho and Sangha Park tied for the individual medalist honors with a matching 10-under, 134s.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action on Friday at the Hawaii Pacific Sharks Shootout at Waikaloa Beach Golf Resort.
