This past weekend, our CMU Mountain Bike team traveled to Winter Park, to compete in Colorado University's Mountain Bike competition of Downhill and Short Track Cross Country.
Our top performers from this weekend's competition on the men's side were Travis Poole, Matthew Sterling, Ivan Sippy, and Landon Dendy. On our female side, our top performers were Erin Bixler, Tai-Lee Smith, Sophie Allen, Ruby Ryan, and Lauren Lackman.
In Saturday's Downhill Men Collegiate A competition, Travis Poole took home 1st place with a time of 04:17.8. Shortly after that Matthew Sterling finished with a time of 4:23.7, taking home 2nd place. Tydeman Newman came in at 5th place with a time of 4:28.1. The very next day, they were back at it again. This time Matthew Sterling improved his time with a few seconds and registered a time of 4:19.1, taking home 2nd place once again. Travis Poole registered a time of 4:19.3 and took home 3rd place. \
Our men's team competed in Short Track Cross Country as well. Ivan Sippy took home 1st place registering a time of 22.17 seconds. Shortly after Landon Dendy earned 3rd place with a time of 22.30 seconds. In 4th place came Dylan Fluckiger, registering a time of 22.33 seconds.
In Saturday's Downhill Women Collegiate A competition, 1st through 5th place all came from CMU athletes. Erin Bixler took home 1st place, she registered a time of 05:10.8. Shortly after her came Tai-Lee Smith who placed 2nd with a time of 5:17.3. In 3rd place came Sophie Allen, who registered a time of 5:19.8. The very next day they were back at it again, this time Tai-Lee Smith took home 1st place improving her time with a few seconds, she came in at 5:11 flat. 2nd place went to Erin Bixler, she registered a time of 5:19.5. 3rd place once again went to Sophie Allen, with a time of 5:20.6.
Our women's team continued to impress and took home 1st through 6th place in Saturday's Short Track Cross Country Women Collegiate A competition. In 1st place was Ruby Ryan, who finished with a time of 17.53 seconds. Shortly after Tai-Lee Smith was back at it and earned herself 2nd place with a time of 18.01 seconds. Lauren Lackman earned 3rd place with a time of 18.01.
