Bradford, Crouch lead seven All-RMAC honorees

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Redshirt senior shortstop Ashley Bradford and sophomore outfielder Rylee Crouch were both selected to the First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball squad while leading seven Colorado Mesa University Mavericks recognized with all-conference honors announced by the conference on Wednesday morning following a vote of the league's 12 head softball coaches.

Redshirt junior outfielder Iliana Mendoza was a second team selection while Brandi Haller, Sarah Jorissen, Hannah Sattler and Aislyn Sharp were all named as honorable mention selections.

Bradford, the 2022 RMAC Player of the Year, and Haller were both first team picks last year while the other Mavs' five honorees are all first-time selections.

Bradford, a Tucson, Arizona native, had one of the best overall seasons in the RMAC, ranking amongst the conference's top 10 players in seven different offensive categories.  She led the conference in batting average (.434), on-base percentage (.532) and OPS (on base + slugging percentage) at 1.377 during conference place.

In total, she stands third in the conference for on-base percentage (.475) and tenth for batting average (.375) entering this week's conference tournament.  She is also ranked sixth for slugging percentage (.724) and fourth for OPS (1.199).  She has hit 12 home runs, tied for seventh most in the conference, and has scored 43 runs to lead the team and rank eight in the conference.

Bradford has also drawn 24 walks, tied for sixth most in the conference, and has driven in 38 runs while stealing all 17 bases she has attempted.

Crouch, a native of Brighton, Colorado, leads the RMAC with 19 home runs, three more than any other player in the conference and fourth most in all of NCAA Division II softball.  She also co-leads the RMAC with 59 RBIs and ranks second in the conference for slugging percentage (.828) and third for OPS (1.249).

Crouch also ranks ninth in the RMAC for batting average (.376) and is tied for ninth for runs scored (42).  She also recorded 30 extra-base hits, tied for second most in the conference and recorded nine outfield assists from her right field position.

Mendoza, the Mavs' center fielder, recorded a .346 batting average and .443 on-base percentage during the regular season and scored 16 runs while driving in 15.  The redshirt junior from Tucson, Arizona is also tied for second on the team with 17 walks and was named as the National Player of the Week on Mar. 21 after the Mavs' series sweep of UCCS, when she had a .917 on-base percentage.

Haller, a fifth-year senior out of Grand Junction, hit 14 home runs, tied for fourth most in the RMAC and ranks fifth in the RMAC for both slugging percentage (.736) and OPS (1.156).  She also is tied for second on the team with 38 RBIs and was named as the Apr. 4 RMAC Player of the Week.

Jorrisen, selected as the first base position, finished the regular season with a .343 batting average and .526 slugging percentage.  The redshirt junior from Berthoud, Colorado, also had 11 doubles and 16 extra-base hits and has scored 23 runs while driving in 22.  She has played at first base, third base and pitcher positions defensively and has also served as the Mavs' designated player.

Sattler was the Mavs' top pitcher this year, posting a 14-11 record and 3.29 ERA, eighth best in the conference, in 33 appearances over 155 1/3 innings so far in 2023.  The Simi Valley, California native who transferred from Southern Nazarane University, has also completed 15 of her 26 starts and has recorded three shutouts.
