GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Colorado Mesa University softball student-athletes have been named to the 2026 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the courts and in the classroom.

Those three include Brynn Escobar, Marisa Nehm and Ava Stephens. Nehm is the only player to have earned this honor before after being selected in 2024, with both Escobar and Stephens being first time honorees.

To be eligible for nomination for Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above and have a 3.50 or cumulative higher GPA. Positional players must have also played in 90 percent of their institution's games or must have started 66 percent of them. Pitchers are eligible if they made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Escobar earns this honor after having a strong spring in which she hit .322 with 10 doubles while tying for the team lead in walks with 24.

In addition, she was a part of 19 double plays as the Mavs turned a new single season record this year with 36.

She was named to the All-RMAC Academic First Team which was released last week.

Nehm joins her with this award as she was one of the Mavs' top pitching arms this year totaling 134.2 innings with a 12-7 record.

She made 36 appearances with six complete games while finishing top 10 in the conference in innings pitched.

Overall in her career she recorded a 28-12 record while logging over 300 innings.

Rounding out the trio is Stephens who hit .271 in her campaign while appearing in 48 games.

She totaled seven extra base hits with 18 RBIs while also adding six stolen bases as one of the team's key outfielders.
