The CMU cycling team wrapped up its racing season by winning the last leg of the circuit for USA Cycling Collegiate Nationals in Albuquerque on Sunday. The Road race brings closure to the season after the CMU Cycling team won the National Championships for the first three disciplines of Track, Mountain Bike and Cyclocross. The 25-year-old CMU Cycling program now has a record of 74 individual student National Championships, 16 Team discipline National Championships and 6 overall Omnium National Championships. This marks the first time in CMU Cycling history that the program has won 1
st at all four disciplines. This brings the tally up to the 3
rd consecutive year that the program has achieved the overall omnium award as the premier Varsity Collegiate Program in the country. The program will start back up in August after they send off their four seniors next week,

Team highlights from Road Nationals:
Olivia Cummins finished 2
nd in the omnium after a 3
rd place in the Criterium and 4
th place in the Road Race.
Ian Anderson was the runner up in the men's omnium for the Mavericks finishing 2
nd in the Road race and 5
th in the Criterium.
CMU claimed first place after scoring a total of 444 points at the three-day championships (Totaling points from the men's and women's team time trial, road race and criterium). Milligan University of Tennessee finished second with 404 points. CMU rivals Fort Lewis College of Durango finished in 3
rd and Marian University of Indianapolis finished in 4
th at the 2023 collegiate road nationals.
Friday featured the Team Time Trials and Individual time trials. The women's team improved their performance form last year to finish 2
nd behind Fort Lewis. The men's team had an off day and was not able to defend their title from last year and finished in 3
rd.
In the Individual time trial Junior Isabella Rich was the fastest among the Varsity competition and won her first individual National Championship. In the men's field
Iver Skaarseth finished 4
th.
Saturday featured the 60-mile Road Race for both the women and men's teams. The CMU Women raced a phenomenal race. In the end DSM World Tour rider Megan Jastrab (Milligan University) got away with the win after an impressive race. CMU's
Olivia Cummins was the highest finisher for the Mavericks in 4
th place followed by CMU's
Kate Seiler in 10
th.
The men's race was highly animated, CMU and Fort Lewis college pushed the race from the front. In the end, the group was split up significantly and FLC's Kellen Caldwell had a great day and rode away with the win. CMU's
Ian Anderson followed in second outsprinting Patton Sims of Belmont Abby. CMU's
Iver Skaarseth finished in 8
th place.
Sunday featured the Criterium race to wrap up the last leg of the weekend. CMU Women finished with 3 riders in the top 10.
Olivia Cummins in 3
rd,
Chloe Fraser in 5
th and
Kate Seiler in 6
th. With the points gathered CMU took over the lead in the Team Omnium standings before the men's race started.
In the final race of the day the CMU men rode hard and had seniors
Ian Anderson and
Lance Abshire in the 9 men breakaway that would contest for the win. After 80 min of
Lance Abshire leading the pace of the race, he finished 3
rd and CMU's
Ian Anderson finished his stelar career (8 National Championships) as a Mav in 5
th place. Sophomore
Oliver Boyd rounded out the great performance of the team in 10
th place.
