Mavericks finish third at RMAC Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 46 Colorado Mesa women's golf team closed out the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Tuesday (Apr. 25) at Boulder City Golf Club on the Desert Hawk Course.
 
The Mavericks stayed steady as the fired a 39-over, 327 to finish the tournament at 937 for their three rounds. Today's 327 was ironically the third best team score behind RMAC team champion No. 49 CSU Pueblo who shot 317 and runner-up No. 34 Colorado Christian who shot 313.
 
Teams and players alike struggled through the conditions as scores were high for nearly every competitor today between both men and women's tournaments.
 
Senior Elly Walters finished in the top-5 after shooting an 8-over 80 in her final round to finish at 226 in her three rounds. She was eight strokes behind the leader after the tournament concluded.
 
In today's round, she had six bogeys, a triple and one birdie which came on the par-3, No. 8 hole. She finished a tournament best on Par 3s as she played the Par 3s to 2-under with an average score of 2.83 on those holes.
 
Sadie Kelley put together her best round of the tournament as she fired a 9-over, 81 in her final round.
 
Casssidy Phelan finished in a tie for ninth on the individual leaderbaord as she finished the tournament at 14-over.
 
The Mavericks will await the NCAA Tournament selection release which is scheduled for this Friday afternoon.
