BOULDER CITY, Nev, - The No. 46 Colorado Mesa women's golf team completed their second round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship on Monday (Apr. 24) at Boulder Creek Golf Club on the Desert Hawk Course.

The Mavericks dropped a spot on the team leaderboard as they shot a 310 which was ten strokes worse than they shot in the opening round. They will enter the third round tomorrow in a tie for third at 610 with everyone chasing No. 49 CSU Pueblo who leads by 25 strokes.

Colorado Mesa's top two golfers in
Elly Walters and
Cassidy Phelan are in position for top ten finishes at the Championships after now two solid rounds of golf.

Elly Walters shot a 3-over, 75 in today's second round after carding three birdies, four bogeys and a double. She opened her round with a pair of birdies before a bogey on No. 3 slowed the run. The Rifle native shot 1-under on the front nine before settling for 4-over on the back.

Walters is in a tie for fourth place at 2-over, 146.

No. 93 ranked
Cassidy Phelan shot 1-under, 71 on the day to jump 10 spots on the individual leaderboard. She opened the round with back-to-back birdies like her teammate Walters but then tripled No. 3. She closed out the front nine at 1-over before playing error free on the back where she shot 2-under with birdies on No. 13 and No. 16.

Phelan is in the clubhouse at 3-over, 147 and in a tie for sixth place.

CSU Pueblo's Kylie Severin shot a 4-under, 68 to take the individual lead after the second round.

Tee times for tomorrow have not been set yet at time of this release but Colorado Mesa will be in the second to last group tomorrow with their projected time of 9:30am.
