Mav women selected for third straight PacWest Tournament

IRVINE, Calif.— The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team has qualified for the Pacific West Conference Championships for the third consecutive year and is currently ranked 10th in the conference's rankings, which were updated and released for the third time on Monday in conjunction with the final qualification list of 12 women's teams.
 
The Maverick men were not as fortunate and were ranked ninth in this week's rankings, one spot outside of the necessary top eight, after slipping a spot in this week's rankings following their loss to new No. 8 Hawai'i Hilo on Friday.
 
Final seeding and tournament brackets will be released next Monday.
 
The CMU women are currently 11-11 overall and have posted a 3-6 record against fellow PacWest teams, including a key victory over 11th-ranked Dominican on Mar. 20 and another 4-3 win at seventh-ranked MSU Denver on Apr. 1.  The Mavericks 5-11 in NCAA Division II matches.
 
They will wrap up the regular season this weekend playing two home matches on Saturday.  They will take on CSU Pueblo at 10 a.m. before hosting MSU Denver at 2 p.m.  Senior Day festivities will be held in between at 1 p.m.
 
The Maverick men (8-11) will also close out their season against MSU Denver, ranked fifth in the men's rankings, on Saturday at 2 o'clock.

The PacWest Tournament will begin on Apr. 19 in Surprise, Arizona.
