HENDERSON, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team completed their second round of the Winona Warrior Invitational at The Legacy Golf Club on Friday (Mar. 10) afternoon.
The Mavericks moved up one spot on the team leaderboard and are comfortably in second place after a second round of 26-over, 314. The score also tied the low round of the day with team leader UBC Okanogan. They continue to lead the tournament by nine strokes over the Mavericks.
Sophomore
Cassidy Phelan continued with her lead on the individual leaderboard after a 1-over, 73 in her second round. Her round started off with two bogeys and seven pars on the front nine before eight pars and a birdie on the back-nine. Her birdie came on the No. 16, short par 4.
For the tournament, she is 3-over, 147 and has a three-stroke lead on Ariel Chang of NCAA Division I Detroit Mercy.
Senior
Elly Walters made a move up the leaderboard as she gained six spots and is now in a tie for fourth. Walters shot a 4-over, 76 in her second round and is now at 12-over, 156 for the tournament. The Rifle native carded three birdies, seven bogeys and eight pars in the round.
The Mavericks will play their final round of the tournament on Saturday beginning at 10:40am pacific.
