SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team completed their second round of play at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational on Monday (Sept. 26) afternoon at Glenmoor Golf Club.
The Mavericks fell one spot on the team leaderboard after a round of 27-over, 315 on Monday. They are currently in third place at 611 while Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado Christian moved ahead by six strokes after a round of 305.
They have just a two-stroke lead on fourth place Texas A&M-International while the University of Tampa continues to lead the tournament by 16 strokes over the Cougars.
Sophomore
Cassidy Phelan sits in third place on the individual leaderboard after a second round 1-over, 73 for a two-round total of 145. Phelan made 15 pars on the day with two bogeys and a birdie. Her lone birdie of the day came on the par-4, No. 17, her second to last hole of the day. She leads the tournament in par-5 scoring at 3-under, for an average of 4.63 on the long holes.
Elly Walters,
Crystle Querol, and individual
Myranda Kotlowski all shot 8-over, 80 in the round. Querol is currently in a tie for 13
th at 8-over for the tournament while Walters is in a tie for 16
th at 9-over.
Ana Maria Jimenez Rios of Tampa continues to lead the tournament after her second consecutive 1-under, 71.
The third and final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow morning.
