Trextlertown, PA - Last week CMU Cycling had multiple athletes competing at the USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trextlertown,PA.
On Wednesday
Ian Anderson (Senior) won the Elite Individual pursuit over 4km in a time of 4:32.236 (Avg. Speed 52.89 km/h). Thursday
Lance Abshire (Senior) finished 3rd in the Elite scratch race
Friday was the Omnium, which consists of four different races scored together in the end to determine the winner.
Lance Abshire was the highest place finisher in the Elite race in 3rd, he was crowned the U23 Omnium National champion with this result as well. Saturday night was the 120 lap (40km) points race where Lance finished a strong second place in the Elite race after battling Grant Koontz (CO) for the entire race,
Ian Anderson finished 6th. Lance finished 1st for the U23 category and Ian 2nd.
Overall this was a very successful race week at Elite Track Nationals and gives the team confidence for the upcoming Collegiate Track Nationals in Indianapolis in early September.
