LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team competed in the second round of the Las Vegas Desert Classic hosted by Missouri – St. Louis at The Legacy Club. After a strong first round of the tournament, the second round wasn't as kind to the Mavericks.
Colorado Mesa entered the day in fifth place in the tournament but fell into a tie for 12
th place on the team leaderboard after a 29-over, 317 in the day's round. The Mavericks are still well within striking distance of a top ten finish.
Senior
Kyle Pearson fired the best round of the day for the Mavericks as he carded a 4-over, 76 to take his two-round score to a 7-over, 151. He had just one birdie today that came on the par-5, 589 yard No. 14. Pearson had just one hole in his back nine that wasn't clean the rest were pars and the one birdie he had.
Dakota Gillman continued to play well and is the Mavericks best golfer positioned on the overall leaderboard at a tie for 17
th place at 3-over, 147. Gillman shot a 5-over, 77 in today's round carding just a single birdie but had 11 pars to go with it.
The Mavericks will play the third and final round tomorrow morning beginning at 9am.
