CLERMONT, Fla.— The Colorado Mesa University triathlon team finished fifth as a team in the Division II standings of the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge NCAA race on Sunday here at Lake Luisa State Park.
Paloma Suarez Davila led the Maverick contingent with a 20
th place finish as the Mavs recorded a team score of 136 points.
Suarez completed the super spring distance format course in 34 minutes, 24.8 seconds. Teammate
Torin Lackmann was behind, finishing 22
nd in 34:40.8 after winning the women's age group event on Saturday as part of the weekend triathlon festival.
Sunday's race included a 375-meter swim, 10-kilometer bike and 2.5-kilometer run.
Meanwhile,
Maddy Watkins finished 42
nd in 36:55.0 while
Madison Batkiewicz took 52
nd in 38:11.4.
Megan Buchanan did not finish after being kicked in the face during the swim portion. She had placed 17
th out of 55 finishers in the USA Triathlon National Development Race on Saturday with a sprint distance format time of 1:06.11.4. That race included a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run.
Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Champion Queens University of Charlotte won the Division II title with 35 points while Wingate was second with 58.
