GUNNISON, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's indoor track and field team won seven more events during an impressive performance at the Mountaineer Open & Multi on Saturday here at Western Colorado University's Mountaineer Field House.
The efforts came after
Mica Jenrette won the pentathlon with a NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying score of 3,511 points on Friday.
CMU's winners on Saturday included
Rachel Crutcher,
Averie Griffith,
Lindsay Parsons and distance medley relay team on the track along with Shaya Chenowth,
Josie Coffey and
Kiana Jackson in the jumping events.
Griffith got things underway as she took the 60-meter hurdles in 9.38 seconds while teammate
Jordan Brockman was third in 9.52.
Crutcher took the 400 meters in 58.61 seconds to move into the No. 6 spot in program history while
Sierra Arceneaux took second place in 59.17 to take the No. 8 spot in Maverick lore.
Meanwhile, Parsons won the 5,000 meters in 18:52.57, nearly a minute faster than her previous personal-best. She also moved her up two spots to fifth in Maverick history with the effort.
The redshirt senior then came back to anchor the relay team, which ran by itself to a time of 13:50.54.
Alyssa Britton,
Amber Valdez and
Brooke Miller had the earlier carries.
Chenoweth won the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters (17 feet, 11 ¾ inches) and was edged out in a photo finish in the 60 meters, posting a time of 7.71 seconds after running a 7.65 in the prelims. Arceneaux was the top qualifier out of the prelims at 7.63 seconds and chose not to run in the finals. Her preliminary round time met the Division II Championship provisional qualifying standard despite the altitude-adjustment.

The Mavs also went 1-2 in the triple jump as
