Men's Golf Finishes Strong to End Fall Season

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Colorado Mesa closed out the fall schedule on Tuesday (Oct. 12) with the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Fall Country Club.

The Mavericks finished with a bang as they had their lowest three round score of the fall with a 23-over, 875. That score was seven strokes better than their score at the opening tournament of the fall at The Writz at Mile High.

They finished in a tie for eighth place with Texas A&M-International and West Texas A&M. Host Midwestern State won the team title with a 14-under, 838 in their three rounds, ten strokes better than second place Hutchinson CC.

Peter Grossenbacher finished as the top Maverick in the field with an even-par, 213 to finish in a tie for 15th place in the 108-player field. He shot an even-par, 71 on the day with three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 10 hole. He mixed that with three bogeys and a double on No. 15. The par-5, No. 15 gave him trouble all tournament long and today was no different. Grossenbacher played the hole at 5-over in the tournament including a double-bogey today.

Freshman Chris Tarmet enjoyed his best tournament of the fall season in his first year. He finished at 3-over, 216 for the tournament to finish in a tie for 24th place.

The Mavericks will be off until the spring season. Check back to CMUMavericks.com for the latest schedules.
