Colorado Mesa will kick-off their all-decade teams today. Every Thursday, starting today and going all the way through Dec. 24, we will release an all-decade team from a different sport. Today, we feature men's and women's golf who will also be our first sports competing this fall.
Â
The year 2020 completed the 11
th season for the Colorado Mesa men's golf program. Even though the program is in its infant stages, it has seen success during that time. The Mavericks have qualified for the NCAA Super Region tournament three times and have had five individuals qualify for the Super Region tournament as an individual.
Â
Brandon Bingaman was one of the first golfers in the program's history and has turned out to be one of the best. His scoring average ranks second all-time at 74.10 and is the all-time leader in rounds of par or better (42), rounds played (105.5), finish percentage (74.3), counting scores (95.1), birdies (309) and eagles (11). Bingaman qualified for the NCAA South Central/West Super Region tournament as an individual in 2013.
Â
Troy Dangler transferred to Colorado Mesa from Denver University and competed for three seasons. Dangler posted the fourth best single season scoring average during the 2017-18 season at 72.94 and defeated 76 percent of his opponents during that season. The local product was a member of the team that reached the NCAA Super Region tournament in 2018.
Â
Trevor McKune was a stalwart in the Maverick lineup from 2014-2017. McKune qualified for two NCAA West/South Central Super Region tournaments as an individual. He possesses the best round in program history, a 64 at the Maverick Invite at Tiara Rado Golf Course during the 2016-17 season. He has the second most rounds played in program history and his 75.14 scoring average ranks seventh overall.
Â
Grant Olinger played for the Mavericks from 2016-19 and qualified for the NCAA South Central/West Super Region tournament as an individual during his junior season and went with the team as a senior. Olinger holds the program record for career stroke average at 73.79 and ranks second with 34 rounds of par or better.
Â
Kyle Pearson is the lone current student athlete on the men's All-Decade team. Pearson currently owns the fifth-best career scoring average at 74.46 and will look to improve on that during this season. He ranks second all-time in eagles with nine, two behind Bingaman.

The Colorado Mesa women's golf team has had sustained success during the past decade, posting eight of the top ten all-time team scoring average marks during that time span. The decade saw the Mavericks make their first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships to complete the 2010-11 season and backed it up with a return appearance the following season.
Â
Ashlyn Kirschner competed for the Mavericks from 2016-19 and turned in one of the top career performances in Maverick history. Kirschner's 78.06 scoring average is currently second best in program history and had a 76.44 scoring average during the 2017-18 season, the top mark in history. She was a part of the team that owns three of the top four team averages in program history.
Â
Kirschner and
Megan Liborio entered the program at the same time and formed a nice duo in nearly every tournament for four straight seasons. Both played the same number of rounds and their scoring averages are separated by just .65. Liborio's 78.71 scoring average is currently third best all-time and holds the school record for two-round total in a tournament with a 142 (-2) at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate during the 2015-16 season.
Â
Hannah More is the lone Maverick on the All-Decade team to still have eligibility remaining and on this year's roster. More currently holds the all-time scoring average mark at 77.70 pending results from her final season. More turned in a 77.16 scoring average during the 2018-19 season, the second best average all-time. She is scheduled to compete in four tournaments this fall.
Â
Jennifer Hilts played two years prior to this decade and two years in but was instrumental in the Mavericks reaching the NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons. She finished her career with a stroke average of 81.08, good enough for eighth all-time but her eight career wins and her score being counted in over 96 percent of the rounds are both program bests.
Â
Taylor Walters played for the Mavericks from 2014-2017 and was the lone Maverick golfer to claim individual medalist honors at the RMAC Championship during the decade. She carded a two-round total of 143, the second best two round total in program history. She finished her career with an 80.89 scoring average which ranks her seventh in program history.
