Men's Hoops Looks to Extend Home Winning Streak

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team will look to move their winning streak to three and four games this weekend when they host Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rivals Adams State (5-10, 3-6 RMAC) and Fort Lewis (10-5, 4-5 RMAC) in Brownson Arena.

CAREER NIGHT
Senior Tommy Nuno had a career night in the win over New Mexico Highlands. Nuno recorded what is believed to be the first triple double in Colorado Mesa men's basketball history as he finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Half Moon Bay, Calif. native needed just a rebound to complete the feat late in the game and got it with 3:02 remaining after a miss from Cowboy Raquan Mitchell.

Nuno backed it up on Saturday with a solid night in the win over CSU-Pueblo. He finished with 11 points, five rebounds and eight assists.

NEWCOMER
Maverick fans were treated to the addition of Ethan Richardson last weekend in Brownson Arena. The 6-10 big man got his feet wet on Friday night's win over New Mexico Highlands playing 15 minutes and adding 12 points and pulling down four rebounds.

On Saturday, Richardson settled into the Maverick rotation and gave fans a real treat. The Madera, Calif. native played 23 minutes and had his first double-double as a Maverick with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.

PROTECT HOME COURT
The Mavericks extended their home winning streak to nine games this past weekend with the sweep of New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo. They will look to make it 11 games this next weekend against Adams State and Fort Lewis

The last time Colorado Mesa had a home winning streak of at least nine games came during the 2015-16 season when they won 10 in a row at home. With two wins this weekend, it will be the longest home winning streak since the 13 wins in a row that happened over two seasons from January 7, 2012 to January 25, 2013 that ended in a loss to then No. 1 ranked MSU Denver 64-52.

STANDINGS WATCH
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball standings are a little bit of a mess right now. Three schools sit atop the standings with Dixie State, Colorado School of Mines and Black Hills State all with 7-2 marks in the conference.

Colorado Mesa and UCCS are one game back with 6-3 marks followed by New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo at 5-4, two games back of the top position.

SCOUTING ADAMS STATE
The Grizzlies have had a roller coaster season thus far. After starting the conference schedule 1-4, Adams State swept the weekend at home from Chadron State and MSU Denver and are now 3-6 in the RMAC. They went 2-4 in the non-conference with wins over Northern New Mexico and Embry-Riddle.

Adams State has five players averaging double digits in scoring this season. Kaelin Crane leads that group at 15.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 32 points in the win over Embry-Riddle and has recorded a pair of double doubles which came against  MSU Billings and New Mexico Highlands.
