LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Colorado Mesa University junior softball standouts AnnMarie Torres and Brooke Doumer have both received post-season awards from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
 
On Tuesday, Torres was named as a top-10 finalist for the 2019 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year.  The first baseman out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado was also named to the First Team All-South Central Region team late last week.
 
Doumer, an outfielder from Parker, Colorado, was a second team all-region selection.
 
Torres is the third Maverick to ever advance this far in the NFCA National Player of the Year process joining Mekayla Kovac (2016) and Brooke Hodgson (2018).  She is one of seven position players still vying for the honor.  The other three top-10 finalists are up for the Pitcher of the Year award.
 
Both awards will be announced on May 30.
 
Torres is also one of eight finalists for the D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year Award after earning NCAA Division II South Central Regional Player of the Year honors from that organization last week.  She was also named as the RMAC Player of the Year.
 
In 2019, Torres led the RMAC in multiple statistical categories, driving in 68 runs to rank second nationally.  She is also fifth in the country with her .587 on-base percentage and sixth in walks, drawing 45, good for a 0.80 per game average.  She also led the RMAC with her .458 batting average and ranks second in the RMAC with her .817 slugging percentage and third in both runs scored (57) and hits (70).
 
Doumer, who was also recognized on the D2CCA Second Team All-Region squad, finished her debut season as a Maverick after transferring from Western Nebraska Community College with 65 runs scored, tied for the most in the RMAC with teammate Kellie Mrofcza.  She is tied for ninth nationally in runs per game and sits 18^th in the country for doubles, after cranking out 19.
 
She also finished second in the RMAC behind Torres in both walks and on-base percentage, drawing 36 to aid her .516 on-base clip.  The lead-off hitter was also hit by a team-high 12 pitches and stole 17 bases without being caught as a catalyst to the Mavericks' offensive attack, which paces the country in scoring.
