PITTSBURG, Kan.— Colorado Mesa University heptathlete
Spencer Jahr ran season-best times in both of his running events and cleared 4.40 meters (14-5.25) in the pole vault on a strong second day effort at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
He finished the 7-discipline competition with 4,445 points but could not overcome a no height in Friday's high jump, finishing 14
th overall.
On Saturday, Jahr began the day with a season-best time of 8.62 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles scoring 832 points. He then tallied 731 points in the pole vault before racking up 754 more in the 1,000 meters, thanks to his season-best time of 2:51.09.
With 10 team points, thanks to all-America performances from
Nolan Ellis, who tied for second in the pole vault, and
Ethan Harris, who placed sixth in the high jump, on Friday, the Mavericks finished in a tie for 21st place in the final team standings, the program's second best finish behind only last year's tie for 11th when Ellis and Jahr won national titles on the same day in their respective events.
