Women's Soccer Set to Begin RMAC Regular Season

Mavericks set to play Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - This weekend the Mavericks will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play against Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines. First they have a match against the Cougars of Colorado Christian Friday night. Following this match the Mavericks will host Colorado School of Mines for a match on Sunday. Both of these games will take place on Walker Field.

Game time Friday night is set to begin at 7 p.m. and game time Sunday afternoon is set to begin at 1 p.m.

For the beginning of the RMAC regular season coach Jason Clare mentioned, "As a team our goal for this season is to have our best year to date." These first two RMAC games are important for every team but for the Mavericks, " We will have to be at our best to get maximum points. Six points out of these two games would be marvelous, and we know it's going to take a lot of work." Clare mentioned Thursday morning.

The Mavericks will enter RMAC play with a  2-1-1 record after falling to Cal State- East Bay and ending in a tie against Humboldt State University last weekend. From this past weekend the Mavericks learned, " We have to maintain focus for the entire game and not allow the opponents to gain any momentum. We've learned that moments cannot consume us and we have to be more patient with the ball."

Despite last weekend the Mavericks have outscored their opponents six to three and are averaging 14.3 shots per game.
