GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team put together three solid rounds of golf to place ninth at the Western New Mexico Spring Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club on Tuesday (Apr. 3).
As a team, the Mavericks shot a 5-under, 283 to open the tournament followed by a pair of even par, 288s in yesterday's second round and today's final round. The 859 total was just one stroke behind eighth place CSU-Pueblo and two strokes ahead of 10
th place West Texas A&M.
A pair of Mavericks flirted with the top ten of the leaderboard all tournament long.
Grant Olinger shot back-to-back 1-under, 71s in yesterday's two rounds and backed it up with a 3-under, 69 in today's final round to place in a tie for 13
th. The junior carded six birdies in his final round of play and 14 in his three rounds of play.
Troy Dangler finished in a tie for 18
th place. Dangler went low in his opening round on Monday with a 6-under, 66 which placed him third after one round of action. His next two rounds were a pair of 1-over, 73s.
Brett Krantz had the lone eagle of the tournament for Colorado Mesa in yesterday's round two. He earned it on the 11
th hole, a par-5, 515 yard hole.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action next week at the Southern Colorado Masters in Pueblo.
