GUNNISON, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University indoor track and field teams won four events and earned one provisional mark at the Western State Alumni Open Saturday (Feb. 5).
Michael Fera finished second in the 800 in a provisional time of 1:56.73.
Nathan Oglesby was third in 1:57.78.
Gabriella Casey broke her own school record in the pole vault with a leap of 11-1.75 to place second.
The Mavericks swept the podium in the men's 400.
Matt Miller won in a time of 52.40, followed by
Marc Garcia (53.66) and
Jake Vondrus (55.07).
Heidi Weber placed second in the women's 400 (58.97).
Trevor Jensen won the weight throw (54-6.75) and placed third in the shot put (48-10.75).
Danielle Pickert finished third in the shot put (38-10.25) and weight throw (48-0.75).
Peter Greco won the triple jump (44-11) and
Alex Armenta was third (40-11.5).
Mekayla Winchester just missed the school record in the 60 hurdles winning with a time of 8.87.
McKayla Thomas was second (9.53).
Maya Wilson was second (11:16.67) and
Blake Graf was third (9:14.65) in the women's and men's 3,000.
Christopher Walker placed second in the weight throw (53-6.5), and
Vernon Jackson was second in the long jump (22-0.75).
Quincey Pedersen finished in the high jump (5-0.75), with
Erika White and
Natalee Todd finishing in a three-way tie for third (4-10.25).
Ally Tapp finished second in the 200 (26.27), and Mackenzie Kroupa was third in the triple jump (33-3.75).
The men's 4x400 relay of
Matt Miller,
Marc Garcia,
Jake Vondrus and
Vernon Jackson finished second in a time of 3:30.81.
Colorado Mesa will compete at the Western State Open Feb. 18.
