AUSTIN, Texas— Teo Casados set the fastest all-conditions 100-meter time in Colorado Mesa University history to lead the Mavs' efforts at the 98
th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday here at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium.
His wind-aided mark will not count as the official Maverick record but is the fastest by a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference athlete this season and will rank him as high as 11
th on this year's NCAA Division II performance list.
The redshirt senior continues to hold the official CMU record of 10.43, which he used to win the RMAC title last year. Friday's time, run with 3.8-meter-per-second tailwind, also surpassed Elijah Williams' wind-aided CMU all-conditions best of 10.37 from the 2024 season.
Teammate
Marik Cummings also ran in the same heat on Friday, posting a mark of 10.60 seconds.
In the women's 100,
Hannah Schissler finished in 11.83 seconds, also the best time in her career. That was also wind-aided but is still eligible for RMAC Championship qualification and puts her second on the conference performance list as of Friday evening.
Teammate
Kammi Merritt finished in a different heat with a time of 11.96 seconds.
Elsewhere,
Izaak Siefken recorded a solid javelin throw mark of 66.30 meters (217-6) to finish fourth in the "A" section. He continues to lead the RMAC with his school-record effort of 68.58 meters (225-0) from earlier this season.
Meanwhile,
Amaris Mora,
Joseph Randolph, Cummings and Casados finished the 4x100-meter relay in 40.40 seconds.
Antone Higgs also represented CMU in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.41 meters (21-0.5) on his second attempt in between two fouls. He then chose not to compete in the triple jump.
Casados and Randolph are slated to compete in the invitational section of the 200 meters on Saturday afternoon.
The bulk of the Maverick track & field squads were competing at home on Thursday and Friday
during the High Desert Dental Maverick Invitational.
