RENO WRAPUP
Colorado Mesa had their best finish at the Reno Tournament of Champions during the break. The Mavericks placed eighth, the highest non-Division I school in the tournament, with a pair of top four finishes. Austin Gaun placed third at 184 pounds defeating his opponent from Michigan State while 174 pounder Bruno Nicoletti placed fourth after falling in a heartbreaker to an opponent from Boise State in the semifinals. 

DUAL SEASON
Colorado Mesa will open up the dual season on Wednesday when they host Adams State at 6pm in Brownson Arena. They will follow that up with a dual against ninth ranked Cal Baptist on Thursday followd by a trip up the road to Gunnison for the Tracy Borah Duals. The Mavericks enter the week ranked 23rd nationally after a successful tournament season where they had their highest number of placers at the Wyoming Cowboy Open and the Reno Tournament of Champions. During the 2015-16 season, Colorado Mesa went 9-2 in duals with losses against DI Air Force (27-12) and No. 7 Cal Baptist (19-15).

A-WEST CONNECTION
The Mavericks feature a pair of Arvada West High School products in their starting lineup in 149 pounder Nick Swanson and 157 pounder Payton Tawater. Swanson is a returning NCAA National Qualifier and has an 8-8 record on the season while Tawater enters the week ranked No. 8 in the country with an 11-7 overall record.

RMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The RMAC Championships are fast approaching. They will be held on Saturday February 4 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The Mavericks will be one of the favorites entering the tournament as they were picked fourth in the preseason poll and finished in third place a year ago.
