Jordan Lyden Named RMAC Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jordan Lyden was named the RMAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year and Dan MacDonald was named Coach of the Year Thursday (April 24).

Lyden posted a 21-11 overall record and a 4-1 league mark at No. 1 singles. The St. George, Utah, native also earned first team honors.

Spencer Weinberg, from Grand Junction, Colo., joined Lyden on the first team with a 19-10 record including a 4-1 mark in RMAC play.

Lyden and Weinberg earned first team honors at No. 1 doubles with a 24-7 overall record and a 4-1 mark in league play. The team is currently ranked No. 6 in the South Central Region.

Andres Garcia-Rojas, native of Toronto, Candad, was named to the second team at No. 3 doubles with a 20-7 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in the RMAC.

Cody Freischlag, a native of Downer's Grove, Ill., was named honorable mention with a 17-10 overall and 3-1 league mark at No. 4/5.

Garcia-Rojas and Freischlag earned second team honors at No. 2 doubles with an 11-8 record.

Dan MacDonald earned his third straight men's coach of the year award and the fourth of his career (2010, 2013, 2014, 2015) after leading the men to a 16-8 overall record, a 4-1 league mark and a No. 6 ranking in the South Central Region.

The women's team had two individuals, Kristyn Wykert and Rachel McLaughlin, earn first team honors.

Wykert, a native of Laramie, Wyo., posted a 9-11 overall record and a 2-1 league mark at No. 2 singles.

McLaughlin, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., is 13-12 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play at No. 2/3.

The duo earned first team honors at No. 1 doubles with a 9-12 record and 2-1 league mark.

The Mavericks doubles team of Emily Dodson and Amy Beeston also earned first team honors at No. 2 doubles with a record of 14-7 overall and 5-0 in RMAC play.

Natalie Martin, a native of Tempe, Ariz., was named to the second team with an 11-14 record and a 1-3 league mark at No. 1 singles.

Emily Dodson and Katie Kirby each earned honorable mention honors.

Dodson, a native of Alamogordo, N.M., posted an 11-9 overall record and 3-1 league mark at No. 4/5 singles.

Kirby, a native of Thornton, Colo., is 11-13 overall and 2-2 in RMAC play at No. 3/4 singles.

Both the CMU men's and women's teams enter the RMAC Tournament April 24-25 in Pueblo, Colo., as the No. 2 seed.
