AZUSA, Calif.— Emil Hultman won a singles match for the second straight day while
Luke Burriesci and
Jamison Pfingston won a doubles match for the Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team, which dropped a 6-1 neutral-site match-up to the Menlo College Oaks on Tuesday here at Azusa Pacific University's Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex.
The Mavericks are now 5-11 while the Oaks improved to 5-4.
Hultman won his No. 3 singles match over David Espinoza Navarro by a 6-4, 6-0 scoreline. The senior from Sweden is now a team-best 17-7 overall and picked up his tenth dual-meet win of the campaign.
Burriesci and Pfingston were 6-2 winners over Ian Ramiro Perez and Henry Riccioni-Brown at No. 3 doubles to stop a 3-match slide.
However, the Oaks won the other two doubles matches by tight 7-5 and 6-4 margins and were victorious in five of the six singles matches.
Henry Schck, who joined Hultman as a winner on Monday against 25
th-ranked Biola, was able to win the second set of his No. 1 singles match against the Oaks' Robin McAlpine, who won the match 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
The Mavericks will wrap up their trip to Southern California playing against APU on Wednesday afternoon, starting at 1:30 p.m. PDT (2:30 p.m. Mountain). The Cougars are 12-4 and have won eight straight as a team.
