KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Colorado Mesa University men's and women's teams started the day with wins before falling to Palm Beach Atlantic in the afternoon Tuesday (March 24).
The men started the day with an 8-1 win over Hamilton College.
The Mavericks swept the three doubles matches.
Trevor Brown and
Duncan Alger had the closest doubles match winning 8-5 at No. 3.
The Mavs also won No. 1-5 singles.
Spencer Weinberg won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and
Spencer Weinberg won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2.
Mesa closed the day with a 7-2 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic with both wins coming in doubles.
Andres Garcia-Rojas and
Cody Freischlag won 8-5 at No. 2, and
Trevor Brown and
Duncan Alger posted an 8-5 win at No. 3.
The women's team started the day with a 9-0 sweep over Union.
Natalie Martin won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, and
Kristyn Wykert won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.
The Mavericks did not allow more than three points in any singles set.
CMU concluded the day with a 7-1 loss to Palm Bach Atlantic.
Kristyn Wykert earned the one win for CMU at No. 2 singles defeating Yoanna Peshev 7-5, 6-4.
Both teams will enjoy a day off Wednesday before wrapping up play in Florida with matches Thursday.Â
