Weinber and Kirby Sweep RMAC Accolades

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Spencer Weingberg and Katie Kirby were named the men's and women's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week.

Spencer Weinberg went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and along with Jordan Lyden went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, helping the Mavs to an upset at ITA then-No. 16 Cameron University on Monday and a blanking of Dallas Baptist on Tuesday. He rallied to defeate ITA South Central region No. 5 singles player Dennis Merdan (0-6, 7-5, 6-2), who was ranked No. 30 nationally in the fall singles rankings before denying a single game to Bryant Forshee of Dallas Baptist in a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Katie Kirby went 2-0 at No. 6 singles and 2-0 at No. 3 doubles versus region No. 4 Cameron and region No. 8 Dallas Baptist. In singles action, she defeated Antonia Moberg (5-7, 6-0, 10-4) of ITA No. 36 Cameron, and took down Meredith Robinson of DBU in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 to seal the 5-4 win for the Mavs against the Patriots.
