GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 13
th ranked Colorado Mesa wrestling team won six of the ten matches and got a pin from 197 pounder
Paco Retana to pick up a 21-18 win over CSU-Pueblo on Saturday night in Brownson Arena.
Retana didn't waste much time in his match, pinning ThunderWolf Riley Argyle at the 1:44 mark of the first period. He is now 14-7 on the season with a team-leading 10 pins.
Senior
Trevor Donarski may have come up the biggest in his final home dual of his career. Donarski was able to score a takedown and secure a two-point nearfall on eighth ranked Ray Hall late in the match to pick up a 6-3 win. Donarski moved his record to 17-8 on the season.
Colorado Mesa's other senior in the starting lineup came up with a good performance in his final home dual. Chester Granard scored a 7-1 decision over Trevor Grant to improve his season record to 18-3 and his career record to 90-45.
The Mavericks will be back on the mat on Thursday when they travel to Gunnison to take on their rivals, the Western State Colorado Mountaineers.
