GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 13^th ranked Colorado Mesa wrestling team won four of the ten matches and fell to the 15^th ranked Adams State Grizzlies 24-18 on Friday night in Brownson Arena. Paco Retana and Jordan Passehl picked up pins in the last two matches but the comeback came up just short.
 
Retana improved his overall record to 13-7 on the season and scored his team-high ninth pin of the season. Retana led 7-1 when he threw Grizzly Dakota Bencomo to his back and scored the pin.
 
Passehl won his team-high 20^th match of the season and improved his overall record to 20-7 on the season. Passehl led 7-0 when he secured an arm-bar on Tuli Laulu of Adams State and picked up his seventh pin of the season.
 
Senior Chester Granard, ranked sixth in the most recent NWCA rankings, scored a 3-0 decision over Mario Garcia and fourth ranked Jessie Hoffschneider secured a 9-6 win over Mark Mabry, Jr. for the Mavericks other two wins on the night.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action tomorrow night against CSU-Pueblo at 7pm in Brownson Arena. Tomorrow night will be senior night and Colorado Mesa will honor their four seniors.
