Colorado Mesa men's tennis team will play for the RMAC Championship title on Sunday at Noon at Elliott Tennis Center on the campus of Colorado Mesa University. CMU will play either Western New Mexico or Metro State.
CMU defeated the Yellowjackets to advance to the title match. CMU took 2 of the 3 doubles matches for the early lead Saturday evening. CMU's number one doubles team
Jordan Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg won 8-2 and the number three team of
Brason Hollabaugh and
Trevor Brown won 8-4 to give CMU the edge.
CMU's top three singles players each won in straight sets to give CMU the 5-1 decision. Freshman of the Year
Spencer Weinberg won 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles.
Jordan Lyden finished next at number one singles winning 6-4, 7-5 for a 4-1 lead. Moments later freshman standout
Andres Garcia-Rojas clinched the dual with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number three singles.
The Mavericks will play either Western New Mexico or Metro State for the title. The two teams were still on the court as CMU punched their ticket to the final.
