Kylie Kegans scored the Mavericks only goal in the first period (40:30) and the Mavericks held a 1-0 lead until just under 15 minutes remaining over the Colorado School of Mines in first round action of the RMAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament in Arvada, Colorado. The Orediggers tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by league-leading Kayla Mitchell on a shot 25-yards out that found the back of the net. Neither team could score before regulation forcing overtime. MSC had played two overtimes this season going 0-1-1 and the Orediggers were 0-5-0 in overtimes prior to today's matchup.
CSM's Elizabeth Oba ended the Mavs season just 3:03 in to overtime on a goal from the top of the box off a pass from Kayla Mitchell.
Mines held a 25-6 advantage in shots, holding the Mavericks to zero shots in the second half and overtime period. MSC's six shot in the first half, five were shots on goal. Of the 25 shots for the Orediggers, eight were on goal.
MSC's Julie Rasmussen played the entire game in the net, recording six saves. Mines' Briana Schulze was credited with the win allowing one goal and finishing with four saves.
MSC ends its season 12-9-1 overall under first year head coach Erin Sharpe. CSM (12-4-3) will advance to the semifinals and play #2 seed Regis University on Friday in Denver.
