Mavericks add inside presence in Marlee Pieper

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Colorado Mesa University Head Women's Basketball Coach Taylor Wagner announced the signing of Marlee Pieper, a 6-foot forward transferring from Utah State Eastern on Friday (June 26) afternoon.

Pieper, a native of Blackfoot, Idaho, capped her sophomore season at Utah State Eastern as the team's second-leading scorer and top rebounder, averaging 12.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game across 31 starts for the 2025-26 Eagles. She logged 371 total points and a team-high 268 rebounds, including 73 on the offensive glass, while adding 42 steals and 15 blocks on the season. Her individual game-high of 18 rebounds, set against Snow College on January 8, showcased the interior presence she will bring to the Mavericks.

In Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, Pieper raised her rebounding average to 10.3 per game across 15 conference games, positioning her as one of the premier interior players in the NJCAA. That dominance earned her a first-team all-region selection and three SWAC Player of the Week honors across her two seasons with the Eagles, with one of those weekly awards coming during her freshman year after a 21-point, nine-rebound performance against Western Wyoming Community College.

Pieper's excellence is not limited to the court. She has earned Academic All-American recognition twice, reflecting the same drive and discipline off the floor that has defined her athletic career.
