Olivia Reed Thyne and
Mason Rowland were all recently named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Team.
Reed Thyne and Rowland were also selected to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America® honors that will be voted on CSC members and announced on Apr. 15.
To qualify for the academic all-district honors®, student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 GPA and play in 90 percent and/or start 66 percent of their team's games in the current season. Institutions were limited to four nominees.
Reed Thyne, who was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Academic Player of the Year for the third straight season earlier this month, will be aiming for a third straight Academic All-America® honor.
A kinesiology major with a 3.92 GPA, Reed Thyne set a multitude of records while leading the Mavs to a program-best 37-2 overall record and a run to the national semifinals.
The senior out of Windsor, Colorado set school, RMAC and Colorado Collegiate (all division) single-season records for both points (894) and rebounds (457) and had a long list of accolades, including being named as both the RMAC and Division II Conference Commissioners Association South Central Region Player of the Year. She was also a consensus first team all-American earning honors from both the D2CCA and WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association).
Reed Thyne also finished her career with 2,490 points and 1,431, obliterating the former school and RMAC records while becoming the first RMAC player to ever record more than 2,000 points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Rowland, a redshirt sophomore from Durango, Colorado, holds a 3.90 GPA and is majoring in accounting. She joined Reed Thyne on the First Team Academic All-RMAC team and was also on the First Team All-RMAC and D2CCA All-South Central Region team.
She scored 718 points this season, fourth most in RMAC history, and led the Mavericks in assists (147), steals (67) while grabbing 237 rebounds (6.1 per game). She also led the RMAC with 83 3-pointers and 191 free throws and was second in the conference with her .891 free throw percentage.
King, a redshirt sophomore from Craig, Colorado, played in 38 of the Mavs' 39 games, and holds a 4.00 GPA while majoring in chemistry. She scored in double figures four times and had a career-high 24 points in a win over Adams State. She was also named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
Moore, a senior from Windsor, Colorado, holds a 3.63 GPA and is majoring in business administration. She started all 39 games and was named to the Second Team All-RMAC unit while also picking up RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll accolades. She averaged 9.1 points per game was second on the team in both assists (137) and steals (64) behind Rowland.
She also led the RMAC with her 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
