ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Three runners raised their positions on Colorado Mesa University's all-time top-10 performers' lists while
Teo Casados and
Joseph Randolph continued their strong sprinting seasons on a solid day of efforts for a contingent of Maverick track & field athletes on Friday here at the Don Kirby Elite.
After they set the top two indoor times in program history here on the banked track in the Albuquerque Convention Center just two weeks ago, Casados and Randolph again fared well in the invitational section of the men's 200 meters. Casados, the former school record holder, finished seventh in 21.10 seconds while Randolph, who set the new Maverick record of 20.92 a fortnight ago, finished 11
th in 21.36.
Both men continue to sit amongst the top ten on the NCAA Division II Championship qualifying list.
Meanwhile,
Amaris Mora ran to an indoor career best of 21.92 to lead a group of three Mavs in the unseeded sections, to move up to fifth in CMU history.
Alonzo Leiba finished in 22.62 while Aiden Brownell was timed in 23.06 seconds.
Freshman
Jordan Fraser also had a solid effort of 49.58 seconds in the 400 while Brownell finished in 50.68.
Hannah Schissler led the Maverick women's sprinters, turning in an indoor career best of 24.63 seconds to raise her No. 5 position in CMU history.
Elaina Arcand and
Cami Costello also did the 200/400 double.
Arcand finished the 200 in 26.18 seconds and turned in an effort of 58.96 seconds in the 400 while Costello put down times of 26.51 and 59.61, both of which were quicker than her efforts two weeks ago at the New Mexico Team Open.
The Mavericks also had some strong distance running efforts in the 3,000 meters.
Lauren Hodges moved to the No. 7 spot of CMU history with a time of 10:32.09 while
Daisy Lalonde finished in 10:38.37.
Dominick Muller had a time of 9:10.36 for the Maverick men in that event.
The meet will continue on Saturday.
A separate group of Maverick runners combined for two school records and two other No. 2 ranking times at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday.
