LA MIRADA, Calif.— Colorado Mesa University junior
Devyn Rodriguez came from a set down to win a pair of 3-set matches and advance to the semifinals of the women's singles draw at the ITA West Regional Championships on Friday here at the Biola University Tennis Center.
The Chandler, Arizona native was able to get past sixth-seeded Yume Ueoku of Fresno Pacific in the Round of 16 by a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-1) margin and then won a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 decision over Emely Valencia of Point Loma Nazarene in the quarterfinal round.
Rodriguez, now 9-1 on the season, is slated to play No. 2 seed Alina Kupfer of Point Loma at 10:30 a.m. PDT (11:30 a.m. Mountain) on Saturday with a spot in the afternoon's regional final on the line.

Jade Brilhante, 6-2, 6-1 in the Round of 16 on Friday.
The Mavs also recorded a main draw doubles win on Friday as
Catalina Ballon and
Delia Maier were 8-5 winners over Fresno Pacific's Fabiana Gonzalez and Halle Faherty by an 8-5 score in the quarterfinals. They then fell to Valencia and Anna Pallencaoe by an 8-1 score in the semifinals.
The Sea Lion pair also knocked out CMU freshman
Sophie Hartman and
Valentina Gonzalez by an 8-2 score in the quarterfinals.
The Maverick men also had a doubles pair in the main draw on Friday.
Seniors
Henry Scheck and
William Leschig were defeated by second-seeded Angel Guerrero and Alejandro Flores Monteverde of Biola in the quarterfinal round.
Results of the consolation singles matches have been sporadically posted on the tournament website although Maverick head coach noted Ballon and Maier both won a match while
Luke Burriesci beat Leschig in an intra-squad match-up.
