OREM, Utah— The Colorado Mesa University volleyball took on NCAA Division I Utah Valley University in a Friday evening exhibition at the Wolverines' UCCU Center.
Utah Valley won the match, winning the first three sets, 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
The teams then agreed to play an additional fourth set, not counted in the match statistics.
New CMU Coach
Austin Albers used 17 different players in the opening three sets, experimenting with different lineups in advance of the Mavs' official season-opener on Sept. 5.

Aesha Alrashed, who redshirted last year, and Maverick newcomer and senior outside hitter
Sadie Scoville recorded four kills apiece to lead the Mavs' balanced attack.
Scoville, a First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pick at CSU Pueblo last season, was playing just miles from her hometown of Pleasant Grove.

Charleston Tidwell recorded three kills each. also had two block solos.
Freshman setter
Ashlyn Tafoya recorded 10 assists and six digs while senior libero
Allison Waller had 14 digs to lead the Mavs' back row.
The Wolverines, picked first in the Western Athletic Conference's Preseason Poll, doubled up the Mavs in kills, 44-22 through the first three sets. Avery Page put down ten and hit .500 while WAC Preseason Setter of the Year Evalyn Chism dished out 22 assists.
Lani Matavao had nine digs for the Wolverines, who went 21-11while advancing to the second round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship in 2024.
The Mavs will hold a public intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. in Brownson Arena to conclude the preseason.
