Hanks leads 12 on All-RMAC Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released their All-Conference teams for baseball earlier this week with Colorado Mesa well represented on the list.
 
Maverick head coach Chris Hanks was named the RMAC Coach of the Year for the 12th time in his career. It was his first award since 2023 after leading the Mavericks to a 38-11 overall record and has them in position for their 24th NCAA Tournament appearance. During the season, Hanks eclipsed the 1,100-win mark and is currently one of 21 active coaches with over 1,000 wins in their career.
 
The entire Maverick starting outfield was named to the All-RMAC First Team as Cameron Cartwright, Kolby Felix and Paul Schoenfeld all earned recognition. Cartwright came on strong after starting nearly every game since mid-March and is currently batting .442 with 12 doubles, 16 home runs and 61 runs driven in.
 
Paul Schoenfeld is in the midst of a 28-game hitting streak and batting .433 from the leadoff spot in the Mavericks lineup. The Wichita, Kan. native has 20 doubles, three triples, and eight home runs with 17 stolen bases. He has hit safely in 46 of the Mavericks 49 games played this season. His 1.65 runs per game is No. 1 in the country.
 
Along with his All-RMAC First Team honor, Schoenfeld was named to the RMAC Gold Glove Team. He had a .989 fielding percentage with four outfield assists and unofficially three robbed home runs.
 
The third and final outfielder is junior Kolby Felix as he earned First Team honors for the first time in his career. Felix is batting .393 with 19 doubles and 13 home runs on the season. He has a .507 on-base percentage and a .761 slugging percentage with 16 hit by pitches on the year. He had two multi-home run games this season with one coming against New Mexico Highlands and the other just last weekend against MSU Denver.
 
Junior Liam Hohenstein earned First Team honors for the first time in his career as being one of the top strikeout pitchers in the conference. Hohenstein is 4-3 with a 5.13 ERA and has 50 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched. He had a season-high seven strikeouts in two different games this season with one coming against Northwest Nazarene and the other last weekend against MSU Denver.
 
Junior Gauge Lockhart earned All-RMAC First Team honors after pitching sparingly a season ago. The Delta, Colo. native is 7-1 with a 5.52 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched this season. He has struck out 39 batters with opponents hitting just .241 off of him.
 
Senior backstop Declan Wiesner picked up All-RMAC Second Team honors after managing the conference's top pitching staff and batting.348 on the season. He has 11 doubles, four home runs and 30 runs driven in.
 
Along with his All-RMAC honor, Wiesner was named to the RMAC Gold Glove team. He has a .992 fielding percentage, making just two errors on the season. He threw out nine of 19 would be base stealers on the year thus far as well.
 
Shortstop Kennedy Hara picked up All-RMAC Second Team honors as one of the top defensive players in the conference. He batted .275 with seven doubles and four home runs with 23 runs driven in. He ranks No. 4 in the RMAC in toughest to strikeout with 13 strikeouts in 153 at-bats.
 
Sage Ferguson started on the mound beginning in late March and wound up earning All-RMAC Second Team honors. Ferguson, a junior from Kiowa, Colo., is 3-1 with a 3.56 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts so far this season.
 
Ethan Voss made 10 starts and 13 total appearances and accumulated an 8-1 record to be tabbed All-RMAC Second Team. Voss has pitched 49 innings with 34 strikeouts against just 16 walks and has one of the top walks allowed per nine innings numbers in the conference.
 
Senior JJ Almeda was named the All-RMAC Second Team relief pitcher and is one of the top relievers in the entire region. Almeda is 1-1 with three saves in 24.1 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts. He has walked just four batters and opponents are hitting .255 off him this year.
 
Senior first baseman Stevenson Reynolds earned RMAC Gold Glove honors after fielding .994 and helping complete an RMAC best 36 double plays.
 
The Mavericks won their 13th straight RMAC Regular Season Title last weekend and are in search of their third consecutive RMAC Tournament title this weekend at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark.
