AUSTIN, Texas – Three Colorado Mesa baseball players were honored for their academic work on Tuesday (May 3) afternoon as they earned CSC Academic All-District® honors as selected by College Sports Communicators. The award recognizes student-athletes for their work on the diamond as well as the classroom.
To be eligible for nomination for Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above and have a 3.50 or cumulative higher GPA. Additionally, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
This is the second time
Jordan Pace has earned CSC Academic All-District honors after finishing his degree in Business Administration. Pace went 3-0 on the mound with a 3.15 ERA in 40 innings pitched and set a single season program mark with a 0.68 walks per nine inning rate. He struck out 27 batters and opponents hit just .274 off him.
Gauge Lockhart earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team after earning a 4.0 in MBA course work at Colorado Mesa. The RMAC Academic Player of the Year, went 8-1 on the season with a 5.77 ERA in 54 innings on the mound for the Mavericks. He had 47 strikeouts and opponents hit just .244 off him.
Shortstop
Kennedy Hara landed his first Academic All-District nod with his work on the field and in the classroom. Hara, a business administration student, played in and started all 56 games with a .289 batting average with eight doubles and four home runs. He earned All-RMAC second team and RMAC Academic Honor Roll during his junior season.
