GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released their All-Region and All-American teams last week just in front of the start of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships. Colorado Mesa was well represented with two student-athletes on both the All-Region and All-American teams.
 
Parker, Colo. native Cameron Cartwright was named both First Team All-South Central Region and First Team All-American following an outstanding first season with Colorado Mesa. Cartwright is now a unanimous First Team All-American garnering accolades from the D2CCA, NCBWA and now the ABCA.
 
Cartwright earned NCBWA National Player of the Week following the RMAC Tournament and will likely finish the season as the national leader in batting average at .468. He is currently ranked in the top-10 in on-base percentage at .557 (No.6), slugging percentage at .980 (No.2) and RBIs with 81 (No.8) with only the National Championship games left to play.
 
Senior Paul Schoenfeld earned both First Team All-Region and Second Team All-American honors by the ABCA for his work patrolling center field for the Mavericks. The Wichita, Kan. product is now a unanimous All-American earning honors from all three outlets (D2CCA, NCBWA, and ABCA) in his final season with Colorado Mesa.
 
Schoenfeld finished the season with a .425 batting average and had a 28-game hitting streak and a 35-game reached base streak during the season. He ranks second in NCAA Division II with 89 and runs per game at 1.59. Schoenfeld also ranks No. 5 in hits with 94 with just a few games left to tabulate for the national statistics.
 
The ABCA will released their Gold Glove Teams on June 18 and are scheduled to release the National Players of the Year on June 23.
