COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa senior golfer
Cassidy Phelan has been named the RMAC Academic Women's Golfer of the Year as announced on Thursday (May 22) afternoon. The award and first team honorees are voted on by the sports information directors of the sponsoring schools of women's golf.
To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic First Team and Academic Player of the Year, student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA, be using a year of eligibility, and be in their second year of their current institution. For honor roll, it is the same requirements but only need to have a 3.3 GPA.
The Henderson, Nev. native is a 4.0 student and recently graduated with a degree in business administration. She led the team in scoring average this season with a 77.29 stroke average which is eighth best in program history. She earned RMAC Golfer of the Week honors after recording one of her two top-10 finishes throughout the season. She is a three-time All-RMAC team recipient and earned RMAC Freshman of the Year in 2022.
Phelan has racked up the academic awards since she stepped foot on campus. She earned CSC Academic All-American honors during the 2022-23 school year and is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection. She is now a three-time First Team All-Academic award winner and the 2024 RMAC Summit Award winner.
Payton Panzeri earned her second straight RMAC Academic Honor Roll nod with a 3.58 GPA in business administration course work. Panzeri finished the season with a 77.43 scoring average which ranks ninth best in program history and led the team in head-to-head winning percentage at .712. The Meridian, Idaho native had four top-15 finishes including a T-11
th place finish at the RMAC Championships.
