Outdoor Track & Field
  • Two Maverick men and the women's 4x100-meter relay team will compete in this week's NCAA Division II Championships, which will be hosted by CSU Pueblo, which will wrap up the 2024-25 athletic calendar.
  • The meet runs from Thursday through Saturday and will include CMU's Teo Casados (200m) and Antone Higgs (Long Jump) as well as the aforementioned women's relay squad, including Serenity Burnett-Perry, Sylvia Johansen, Kammi Merritt and Gaby Horton plus alternate Hannah Schissler.
  • The relay team and Higgs will compete on Thursday afternoon while Casados will contest the 200-meter preliminaries on Friday.  The 200-meter and 4x100-meter relay finals will be run on Saturday.
Baseball
  • The Mavericks (42-14) saw their season come to an end on Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional in Tyler, Texas.  The Mavericks went 1-2 at the tournament, hosted by fifth-ranked and second-seeded UT Tyler.
  • The nation's 13th-ranked Mavs, who were seeded third, defeated MSU Denver by a 5-2 score in the opening game of the tournament on Thursday before UT Tyler also knocked off the Roadrunners later that evening.
  • That set up a best-of-three series between the Mavs and Patriots, which the Patriots were able to win by 10-4 and 14-4 margins.
  • The Friday night game did not begin until 9:10 p.m. local time due to lightning delays on Friday night and went into Saturday morning after another lightning delay in the bottom of the second inning.
  • The second game was then played on Saturday afternoon.
  • Ethan Nunez and Kennedy Hara both recorded three hits and had RBI singles in the win over MSU Denver.  Cameron Cartwright also hit a RBI double in the game as Cayden Clark picked up the win after throwing two innings of scoreless relief.
  • Paul Schoenfeld had three hits in the first of two games against UT Tyler while Cartwright hit a 3-run home run to highlight the Mavs' efforts in the second game against the Patriots.
  • Cartwright finished the season with a team-leading .468 batting average and had 16 doubles, 21 home runs and 81 RBIs.
