COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— A trio of Colorado Mesa University Mavericks were all named to the Second Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golf Team it was announced this week by conference officials.
Brittlynn O'Dell,
Payton Panzeri and
Cassidy Phelan were all recognized. Phelan earned All-RMAC honors in all four years of her career, including two first team and two second team plaudits. O'Dell and Panzeri were honored for the first time in their careers.
The All-RMAC rosters and major awards are made by a committee comprised of the RMAC Men's and Women's Coach Chairs, Men's and Women's RAC coach representatives, and a representative from the RMAC office after the NCAA Super Regionals. The Coach of the Year award was decided by a vote on by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for themselves.
All three of the award-winning Mavs finished within four total strokes of one another in their cumulative stroke total and played in all ten events and 21 rounds of CMU's season.
Phelan, a senior from Henderson, Nevada, led the group with her 77.29 scoring average, eighth best in program history, and recorded a pair of top ten finishes, including a second place finish at the Maverick Challenge, where she carded a low round of 73 and a low 36-hole total of 148 (+4). She also finished in a tie for sixth at the SMSU Challenge.
Panzeri, a junior from Merdian, Idaho was just behind with her 77.43 scoring average and had a third place finish at the Maverick Challenge and a solid tie for 11
th finish at the RMAC Championships. She also led the Mavs with her .712 head-to-head winning percentage and carded a low round of 73 before back-to-back 74's and a season-best tournament score of 148 (+4) in the Mavs' two tournaments in Hawai'i at the end of the fall season.
O'Dell, a senior from Grand Junction, finished amongst the top 15 in each of her last four tournaments and five overall this season, finishing the campaign with a 77.48 scoring average. She tied for fourth at the Maverick Challenge and carded her low-round of the season, an even par 72, in the opening round of the RMAC Championships before going on to finish in a 15
th place tie.
