NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.— Colorado Mesa University junior
Courtney Havel was named as the NCAA Division II Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Tuesday. She had also been named as the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday and was recognized for her and the Mavericks' play during a 2-0 road weekend to start RMAC play.
Havel scored a career-high six goals and had a career-high eight points after registering two assists in the Mavs' historic 16-11 win nationally-ranked Regis on Friday. That win over the then 11
th-ranked Rangers was the Mavs' first in 19 road games against Regis and was just the second in 34 all-time meetings with the Rangers, who were in the semifinals of last year's NCAA Division II Tournament.
The Lake Oswego, Oregon native then added five goals and another assist in the Mavs' 18-15 win at UCCS on Sunday, enabling the Mavs to take the lead in the conference standings.
Havel leads the RMAC with 26 goals and is tied for the RMAC lead in total points (31) this season. She has scored at least two goals in all seven of the Mavs' games, only one of which has been at home. Four have been against nationally-ranked opponents.
CMU (3-4, 2-0 RMAC) will continue the season with three straight home games, including this Saturday's contest against Westminster University (2-4, 0-2 RMAC).
That game will now begin at 11 a.m., an hour earlier than originally announced.
