CMU places three on first team, league-high 20 on RMAC Academic Honor Rolls

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse standouts Sophie Astone, Heather Hawkins and Avery Irlbeck were all voted on to the First Team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference squad while leading a league-leading 20 Maverick selections to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

The 13-woman First Team Academic All-RMAC squad was selected by a vote of the conference's athletics communications directors, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.  To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, be in at least their second consecutive year at their nominating institution and have used a season of eligibility.

Honor roll recognition requires a 3.30 or higher GPA as well as meeting the other criteria.

Astone, Hawkins and Irlbeck were also named to the All-RMAC teams for their on-field prowess with Astone and Irlbeck earning first team honors while Hawkins was a second team all-conference honoree after claiming first team as well as RMAC Freshman and Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2025.  Irlbeck was also named as this season's RMAC Midfielder of the Year.

Astone, a senior defender from Littleton, Colorado, has a 3.86 GPA while majoring in exercise science.  She has been on the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll in each of the last three years and earned a spot on the IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll in 2025.  On the field, she led the Mavs with 52 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers and also recorded 28 groundballs.

Hawkins, a sophomore from Palmer Lake, Colorado, holds a 4.00 GPA while majoring in music.  She made 153 saves this season, the second highest total in program history.  She also led the team with 50 ground balls and recorded 16 caused turnovers.
She also finished second in the RMAC statistics for both goals against average (10.71) and save percentage (.447).

The list of the Mavs' 20 RMAC Academic Honor Roll selections can be found below.  No other RMAC squad had more than 16 selections.  Notably, Astone, Carson Dickey, Sidney Edmonds, Cameron Flynn, Ella Freemon, Devon Morris and Olivia Turk were all selected for the third straight year.
