GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team won every quarter and saw 13 different players score goals in a dominant 20-7 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over visiting CSU Pueblo on Sunday here at the Mavericks' Community Hospital Unity Field.
The Mavs' 20 goals and 13 assists were both season-highs.
Winning their regular season and home finale, the Mavericks improved to 6-11 overall while evening their RMAC record at 5-5. They will hope to take the momentum of a weekend sweep in to the RMAC Tournament, which begins on Friday at 4 p.m. when the fourth-seeded Mavs will take on top-seeded and host Regis in the semifinal round.
The CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves finished the season with 5-11 overall and 2-8 RMAC records and in fifth place of the conference standings.
The Mavs have won all 21 meetings between the teams since 2015.
In Sunday's win, the Mavericks never trailed and led 4-2 after the first quarter and 10-5 at the half. The Mavs then dominated the third quarter, 5-0 to implement a running clock before adding five more goals in the final stanza.
The Mavericks outshot the ThunderWolves, 46-13 and dominated the possession, winning 21 of the game's 27 draw controls.
Sadie Chappuis recorded her second hat trick of the weekend while
Courteney Murray added her first of the season to lead the Mavs' scoring charge.
Meanwhile,
Courtney Havel, one of ten Mavs recognized during post-game Senior Day festivities, recorded a career-high five assists while adding a goal.
Fellow senior
Sophie Astone also recorded a career-high 11 draw controls, the most for any Maverick this season.

Evelynn Vissari also had two goals each while freshman
Zia Smith chipped in a pair to double her season goal tally.

Olivia Turk had three ground balls and two caused turnovers to help lead the Mavs.
Three-time First Team All-RMAC selection
Justine Anderson, who has missed the entire season due to injury, was also recognized following the game.
Reese Wasmund had three goals for the ThunderWolves while Ainsley Jackson added two.
