COLORADO SPRINGS — Olivia Reed Thyne has added more hardware to her collection, repeating as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Player of the Year, announced Wednesday (March 12) by the conference office.
Reed Thyne and Kylie Kravig made the 10-member RMAC All-Academic First Team, with six others making the honor roll.
The Mavericks' junior forward from Windsor was the Academic Player of the Year last season, and also earned back-to-back Player of the Year honors after being the RMAC Freshman of the Year in 2022-23. She received both her Player of the Year and Academic Player of the Year awards before the Mavericks' semifinal victory last week in the RMAC Tournament.
Reed Thyne has a 3.93 GPA in fitness and health promotion and was also on the Academic first team last season. Her husband, Austin Thyne, made the men's All-Academic First Team with a 3.96 GPA in elementary education.
Kravig, a senior guard from Greeley, has a 3.99 GPA in exercise science and is a three-time All-Academic first-team selection, one of two on this year's list. Maison White of CU-Colorado Springs (3.62, criminal justice) also received her third first-team honor.
Making the honor roll for the Mavericks are senior forward Lauryn Deede (3.32, criminal justice), senior forward Claire Heitschmidt (3.83, construction management), redshirt sophomore guard Serena Ileleji (3.53, business administration), redshirt freshman guard Brooke Mansanares (4.00, business administration), junior guard Mykaela Moore (3.57, computer science) and sophomore guard Mason Rowland (3.89, mathematics).
Mansanares received the conference's Summit Award last week as the player with the highest GPA participating in the women's championship tournament.
To be eligible for All-Academic First Team honors, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution and have used a season of competition. Those on the honor roll must maintain at least a 3.30 GPA.
Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's athletic communications directors and voted on by the communication directors for that sport, who are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
The No. 22 Mavericks (25-5) are the No. 4 seed in the South Central Regional, facing fifth-seeded Eastern New Mexico (20-9) at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Denton, Texas.
