Mavericks move up three spots in final round of SMSU Invite

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team were the biggest movers of the final round of the Southwest Minnesota State Spring Invitational on Tuesday (Mar. 11) at Wigwam Golf Resort's Red Course.
 
The Mavericks moved up three spots on the team leaderboard after shaving off 27 strokes from yesterday's round. They shot one of the top scores of the day at 304 and finished the tournament at 635 which put them in sixth place out of 12 total teams. CMU moved ahead of South Dakota Mines, Southwest Minnesota State and Concordia St. Paul in the round.
 
Senior Brittlynn O'Dell had a strong day on the course as she started with birdies on three of her first four holes and finished at 2-over, 74 to finish in 23rd place. The score drove her up 18 spots on the individual leaderboard to help lead the Mavericks up the team leaderboard.
 
Payton Panzeri was solid on the day as she finished with four bogeys and a birdie to finish at 3-over, 75. Panzeri climbed 19 spots on the individual leaderboard to finish at 14-over for the tournament.
 
All five of the Maverick golfers who played today recorded at least one birdie in their round.
 
The Mavericks will continue their week in Arizona with the Southwest Minnesota State Challenge beginning on Thursday at Wigwam Golf Resort's Blue Course. They are scheduled to tee off at 10:16am MDT.
