SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team closed out their second tournament of the fall at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational at Glenmoor Golf Club on Monday (Sept. 23) afternoon.
The Mavericks dropped a spot in the team standings despite shooting three strokes better as a team in Tuesday's second round. They fell to seventh and finished with a two-round total of 623. MSU Denver finished three strokes better than Colorado Mesa and tied for fifth on the team leaderboard.
Biola won the team title with a two-day total of 608, one stroke better than conference foe Dominican.
Payton Panzeri led the Mavericks with a tie for 13
th place finish on the individual leaderboard with a 10-over, 154. Panzeri fired a 2-over, 74 in today's final round after finishing with three birdies and five bogeys. She had back-to-back birdies on No. 15 and No. 16 after starting the day on hole No. 10.
Cassidy Phelan finished in a tie for 18
th place with a 155, just one stroke behind Panzeri. Phelan's lone birdie on the day came on hole No. 5 which was a par-5.
Freshman
Hunter Gledhill and
Hannah Cupples finished one stroke apart from one and other in 24
th and 26
th places. Gledhill had a two-round total of 156 while Cupples finished at 157.
Melanie Reyes won the individual medalist honor with a total of 145.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Monday October 7 at the Samuel Proal Invitational at Pueblo Country Club.
